Robert (Bob) Clarence Jacobs was born July 21, 1944 in Ceylon Saskatchewan to Clarence and Hannah Jacobs. He was the youngest child, brother to Wilfred, Harold, Leroy, Mildred, Lloyd, Ellen, Ronald, Ernie and Melvin. When Robert was two, their mother Hannah passed away and he and his siblings went to live with their Aunts and Uncles. Robert went to live with Earl, Muriel and Raymond Jacobs.

Robert grew up in Moose Jaw and took his Carpenters Red Seal Journeymen Ticket at Saskatchewan Tech. Although Robert had many teachers growing up, the most impactful teacher he ever had was Ruby Elford who he lovingly referred to as “Teach”. Robert married Grace McWilliams July 31, 1965 in Moose Jaw and they had two daughters – Deista Grace (McMillan) and Coralie Robin (Baun).

Robert’s daughter Karen was lovingly raised by Ivar and Ivy Kristianson. In 1968 construction brought Robert and his family to Alberta, the first year and a half was spent in Red Deer and then to Calgary permanently. Robert’s finishing carpentry was extraordinary; his attention to detail – especially mitered corners would often lead to discussions when the family would be out in restaurants and places and Robert would comment on whether the woodwork was done correctly or not – to this day his daughters still check out joins on wood. One of his favourite projects was a two-story phone booth that he built for a restaurant in Calgary.

Robert was very proud of his grandchildren Brandon (Savanah), Kelcey, Kayley, Laurel, Karlie, Jessica and Rachel and was thrilled to meet his first great grandchild Brooklynn. An accident in April 2008 left Robert paralyzed. The blessing in disguise was that this life-altering event reunited Robert with his family. A memorial service in Robert’s honour will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 1:30 pm at the Eden Brook Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
