<div itemprop="description">Patricia Anne Whelan <br>May 21, 1949 - January 16, 2017 <br> <br>Patricia Anne Whelan left us on Monday, January 16, 2017 after living with cancer for six years. She walked her path with grace, courage, and an unwavering spirit. <br> <br>Patricia, Pat to her family and friends, was the eldest of 5 children and was born in Princeton British Columbia on May 21, 1949 to Edward and Geraldine Wiggans. She resided there for her first 2 years and subsequently moved with her family to British Guiana for 2 years and then spent her youth in Arvida, Quebec, and formative years in Montreal. <br> <br>In 1974 she left Ottawa for a new life in Edmonton where she met her future husband Lloyd Whelan. They were married in 1975 and moved to Lloyd's hometown of Rycroft, Alberta where they spent their first 8 of 41 years of marriage surrounded by family including Charles and Loreen Whelan and in-laws Joyce (Robert); Margaret (Harvey), and Lois (Tim). During these 8 years they were were blessed with their two children Conrad and Heather. <br> <br>In 1983 Pat and Lloyd moved with their family to Calgary and settled in the community of Glendale where she made her home, planted flowers and trees that still grow to this day, and made lifelong friends. Pat stayed home with the children until they were old enough to attend school and then found employment at SAIT where she worked for the next twenty-five years. <br> <br>Pat made the best of her final years, while living with cancer, by participating to the fullest extent she could with her family and many friends. She enjoyed camping, travel, dinners out, and visiting with family. She especially enjoyed and relished the time she spent with her granddaughters Natalie and Matilda. Pat truly appreciated and is enormously thankful for all of the support, love and kindness she received during this time. <br> <br>Pat's final days were spent under the exceptional care of the professionals at Sarcee Hospice. <br>She leaves behind her husband Lloyd; children, Conrad and Heather (Chris); siblings James, Dianne (Lloyd), Peter (Patricia), and Tom (Colleen); and granddaughters Natalie and Matilda. Pat is predeceased by her parents Edward and Geraldine Wiggans, and her twin sons, Graham and Gregory, who died in infancy. <br> <br>A Celebration of Patricia’s Life will be held at Eden Brook Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11th, 2017 (corner of 17th Avenue SW and Lower Springbank Road) at 2:00 pm. <br></div>
