ROSS, Murray John
1933- 2017

It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of Murray at the age of 83. Murray passed away in the company of his devoted wife Midge at his side on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.

Born in Kirkland Lake to George and Barbara (nee Cannon) Ross, Murray was blessed with the love of his family. He is survived by Midge, his loving wife of 56 years; sons, Stephen (Diane) and Douglas (Bridget); daughter, Christine (Dennis) and his eight grandchildren: Alexander, Lindsay, Katrina, Mackenzie, Nicholas, Benjamin, Natalia and Jonathan as well as his brothers, William (Betty) and Robert. Sadly he was predeceased by his younger brother Jack.

Mostly, Murray enjoyed the company of dear friends and family. He enjoyed many days camping in Kananaskis and several gourmet dinners where the men cooked. He was a great mentor to his kids and was well known for his wit and positive outlook on life.

Murray was a graduate of The 1955 Class for Chemical Engineering at Queens University and was an alumnus of the Banff School of advanced Management. He spent the early days of his career with Esso and Home Oil then moved on to create and run several of his own companies in oil field services, engineering consulting and water purification.

Murray was courageous in the face of multiple illnesses. His battle ended peacefully at the Sarcee Carewest Hospice. Our family is sincerely grateful for the support of all the compassionate and skilled staff within the C3 program and hospice.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Tributes can be made to Parkinson’s Alberta (www.parkinsonalberta.ca), Carewest Sarcee (www.carewest.ca/dir), or Alberta Cancer Foundation (albertacancer.ca/).

A Celebration of Murray's Life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Pinebrook Golf & Country Club (166 Pinebrook Way SW, Calgary) from 2:00 - 4:00pm.
