<div itemprop="description">It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leoba Mary Anderson (nee O’Dwyer) at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the age of 90 years. Leoba was born in Drumheller to John and Teresa O’Dwyer on April 12th, 1926, the 5th of 9 children.<br><br>She is survived by her sons, Jack Anderson (Tania), Malcolm Anderson (Colleen); grandchildren: Lise Watkins (Kent), John Anderson (Amber Staple), Sarah Anderson (Ron Schmeichel), Ryan Anderson (Samantha) and great-grandchildren, Isobel & Alexander Watkins. She will also be remembered by her siblings: Helen Sambrooke; Frank O'Dwyer; Teresa Bailey; Gerald (Ruth) O'Dwyer; Dorothy (Jim) Andrew; Don O’Dwyer & Maria Larsen as well as sister-in-law, Oriole O’Dwyer and many nieces and nephews. <br><br>Leoba was predeceased by her husband John George Anderson on July 29, 1994. She was also predeceased by: her brothers, Art O’Dwyer and Harold O’Dwyer; her brothers-in-law, Sandy Sambrooke, Bob Bailey; sisters-in-law, Mary O’Dwyer, Denise O’Dwyer and Elaine O’Dwyer. <br><br>Leoba had diverse careers with both the Provincial and Federal Government including the Sarcee Auxilliary and Rockyview hospitals in Calgary. After moving to Edmonton, she was employed by the Department of Highways and then retired after a long career with the Drumheller Penitentiary on April 3, 1989. In 2002 she moved to Calgary to be closer to her family.<br><br>Leoba cherished her get-togethers with her brothers, sisters and their spouses and keeping up with the latest news on the phone.<br><br>Leoba also loved reading, knitting and curling when younger. Watching the bonspiels on the TV was one of her favorite pastimes later in life. <br><br>Many thanks to the staff and her friends at Amica Aspen Woods for their care and friendship over the last few years. <br><br>A Memorial Service will be held at Eden Brook Funeral Home on Tuesday, December, 13 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Leoba's name directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca). <br></div>
