Hazel was pre-deceased by her husband, Tony, sister Eileen Mills and brother-in-law Pete Mills.
Hazel graduated from Calgary Normal School as a teacher and began her career teaching in a one -room classroom in Mirror, AB. Not her true calling, she went on to be a very successful Executive Secretary to the president of Atlantic Richfield, continuing with Petro-Canada until her retirement in 1983. She was an active woman who loved singing and dancing – she was a member of her church choir for many years and also spent many years round dancing. She loved to hike in the summer and cross-country ski in the winter. She also loved to travel.
A Celebration of Hazel’s Life will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Eden Brook Funeral Home in Calgary (corner of 17th Avenue SW and Lower Springbank Road) at 2:00pm. Many thanks to the staff at Mayfair Care Centre in Calgary who looked after Hazel for the past 3 ½ years.
