Constable Amy Kyla Engler
September 28, 1982 - July 15, 2016
It is with sadness the family announce the passing of Amy Engler on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the age of 33 years.
Amy will be lovingly remembered by her parents; Maurice and Brenda, her brother; Simon, Erick and Laura; her nephews Rowan and Riley, as well as other family members, many friends and colleagues at Calgary Police Service.
Amy was born in Calgary, lived in a few places and returned to Calgary to upgrade her education and make application to enter the Calgary Police Service.
Amy had a keen interest in healthy living, Yoga (during her training with the Calgary Police Service they called her ‘Bendie’) and outdoor activities in the mountains. Amy has made many friends in Calgary and abroad and she had great enthusiasm for life that was sadly curtailed by medical issues.
Not long after beginning her duties with the Calgary Police Service, Amy began to experience stomach problems which eventually grew into a debilitating condition requiring long term disability leave. Due to a gallant effort she worked her way back to perform duties at the Police Service. Although still encumbered by pain and frequent medical appointments this eventually all became hopeless and intolerable to her.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay respects from 12:00pm-1:30pm with Funeral Service to follow at 2:00pm at EDEN BROOK FUNERAL HOME, 24223 Township Rd. 242 (17 Avenue South West and Lower Springbank Road,) Calgary, AB on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
