<div itemprop="description">CLIPSTON, Leslie (Les) Harry <br>August 19, 1923 – April 15, 2017<br><br>It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Les Clipston at the age of 93. He was the dearest husband and lifelong friend of Flo (who passed away in May 7, 2013), his teenage sweetheart and dancing partner.<br><br>Les was the beloved father of Carol Hale of Calgary and Robert (Doris) Clipston of Stoney Creek. Grandad to Spencer (Jennie) Hale of Calgary, Christopher (Miranda) Hale of Panama, Sean (Jill) Clipston of Brantford, and Kevin (Sarah) Clipston of Rockland. Les was Great Grandad to Victoria, April, Thomas, Ella, Anika, Aurora, Julian and Tennesy.<br><br>Les was born in Montreal but also lived in Kelowna, Maple Ridge and then settled in Calgary. Les spent almost 4 years in the RCAF during World War II. After the war he joined Bell Canada (Montreal) and spent 35 years with the Bell and 18 years there as a supervisor before retiring in 1980. Les loved to sing and he sang for 27 years in Barber Shop Choruses in Montreal, Kelowna and Calgary.<br><br>Les was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 76 years…the last branch being #264 in Calgary. Over time he served on the Executive Committee and was chairman of the Entertainment Committee at various Legions. He amassed legion ribbons from around the world that adorned the walls at the #264 legion for quite some time.<br><br>In keeping with Les’ wishes a private family graveside has taken place. The family would like to thank the staff for the care and attention that Les received over the past 2 years at Colonel Belcher Nursing Home. <br><br><br></div>
