TANAKA, Naomi
Feb 22, 1956 – Sept 8, 2016

After a long and valiant fight with Multiple Sclerosis, our loving wife and devoted mom has passed away. Naomi always displayed a positive attitude, and found the humor in many of her challenges. She is survived by her loving husband Glen, sons Kris, Kiel, Brett and Travis, and birth mother Christina Williams. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Kelsey, and her parents, Burton and Vivian Berg. Naomi was a dedicated volunteer for much of her life, first at nursing homes as a young adult, and then with the community associations where she resided throughout the years of raising her family. For twelve years, she was also the Registrar for community basketball. Naomi was awarded the Governor General’s Medal for service to her fellow Canadians, and she was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal for volunteerism. Naomi was enormously proud of her sons, and unreservedly supported any of their endeavors. She enjoyed several friendships that spanned more than 25 years, and considered those special friends to be her “sisters of the heart”. Naomi had a very special physician, Dr. E. Woolner, who was always there to give great advice or to lend support, for over 25 years. Naomi’s passing leaves an unfillable void in the lives and hearts of those who love her. Rest peacefully, dear one. Your battle is over.
A memorial service will be held for Naomi on October 7 at 10:00a.m. at Eden Brook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society of Canada, or Naomi’s favorite charity, The Salvation Army.
