During high school she became involved in luge, attended the National Sport School, and spent many hours in this sport both at Canada Olympic Park and abroad. After several years competing on the Canadian Junior Luge Team, she gave up the sport following an injury in Austria, and completed her nursing degree in 2001. She married her devoted husband Corey Brennan, formerly of Forestburg, on May 3rd, 2003. Occupationally, she eventually found her niche as a psychiatric nurse and took great pride in working both on the wards and in the emergency department at Foothills Hospital.

Melodie loved the outdoors and had hiked the West Coast trail and the Grand Canyon with Corey, her parents and brother Ted. Her love of animals was evident in a trip to the Galapagos islands in 2014 and the two cats she loved. Melodie’s physical and emotional strength was tested as she struggled with chronic illness, including chronic back pain and multiple sclerosis. Melodie has found peace.

She is survived by her husband Corey Brennan son of Keith and Jean Brennan, her parents Ruth and Werner Becker of Calgary, her bothers Ted Becker and his wife Ping of Vancouver and Chris Becker and his wife Kimberly of Calgary.
