Wilmer Glenn Olson
March 29, 1926 - January 20, 2017
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Wilmer Olson on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the age of 90 years.
Wilmer was born March 29, 1926 at Claresholm, AB. He lived in Turner Valley where he took his schooling. He worked on the oil rigs all over Alberta and in parts of Saskatchewan. In 1965, Wilmer went to work overseas in Libya, while there he met and married Anastasia in Athens, Greece in 1967. They returned to Calgary in 1981, making their home in Bowness. Wilmer’s last few years he resided at the lodge at Valley Ridge.
Wilmer was predeceased by his wife Anastasia in 2010; his parents George and Rena Olson; his brother Donald Olson; his sisters; Cora Youngberg, Lois Brown and Mildred Brown. He is survived by his sister Elaine (Jim) Anderson of Olds, AB as well as many nieces and nephews. One very special nephew Gord and his wife Debbie Brown who spent many hours with Wilmer.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 27th, 2017 at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens (corner of 17th Avenue SW and Lower Springbank Road) at 1:00 pm.
