<div itemprop="description">WERENKA, Walter<br>Nov. 11, 1929 – June 26, 2016<br>Walter Werenka of Calgary, Alberta passed away surrounded by his family at noon Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the age of 86. Survived by his wife of 61 years Trudy Werenka, and three sons Dave (Loraine) Werenka, Leon (Judy) Werenka, and Peter (Kathy) Werenka, seven grandchildren, James (Abby) Werenka, Delesa (David) Lang, Astra (Steve) King, Jocelyn Werenka (Curtis), Derek Werenka (Dayna), Alexander Werenka, Gillian Werenka, and five great Grandchildren – Dane, Aidan, Camden, Jaxen and baby Lila all of Calgary. Survived by one sister Olga Andrus and one brother Andy Werenka, predeceased by his Parents Procopius and June and two sisters Evelyn Wayne and Nancy Seath all of Edmonton. Walter was born in the village of Beauvallon, Alberta on November 11th, 1929 and eventually moved to Edmonton where he finished high school. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1953 at U of A . Walter had an extensive 35-year career with Reid Crowther and Partners starting in the Pincher Creek and Taber area and relocating to Calgary in 1955 working for water treatment division in Western Canada and NWT. In 1965 he became Chief Design Engineer and was then promoted to Manager in 1972, a position he held until his retirement in 1988. He also did international work including water projects in Jamaica and Haiti. Walter loved the outdoors and spending time with his family and friend’s playing cards, camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time at his beloved nature retreat near Rocky Mountain House. A memorial service will be held for Walter on June 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Eden Brook Funeral Home in Calgary, Alberta. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ducks Unlimited, Canadian Wildlife Federation, Creston Valley Wildlife Association, and Rockyview Hospital in Calgary.<br></div>
