Clarke, Simon John
October 5, 1931 - August 26, 2105

Simon John Clarke, also known as “Jack” and “Nobby”, was an officer and a gentleman. He left the world peacefully just twelve days after his wife Jean passed away. After 57 years of marriage, their adventure together continues. Simon enjoyed a 25-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a jet fighter pilot and a celebrated flight instructor. He could thrill the crowd at an air show but at home, he was quiet and steady. Our family moved frequently, including a diplomatic transfer to Oklahoma during the Vietnam War. After retiring as a Major in 1978, Simon spent 12 years as Chairman of the Aviation Program at Mount Royal University. We are so grateful for this patient, kind and loving man. He created a stable foundation where our family flourished. He also loved a good landscaping and home reno project. Let's hope they take Canadian Tire bucks in heaven. Simon is dearly missed by daughters and son-in-laws Divona (Michael), Tyrrell (Donnie) and Jo-Anne (Doug), four adoring granddaughters Jessica, Shyana, Siobhan and Mahalia, and a large extended family. A celebration of Simon’s life will be held at Eden Brook Funeral Home (17th Avenue & Lower Springbank Road S.W.) on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
