DALGARNO, Myrna Jean
December 29, 1947- September 3, 2016

It is with sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Myrna Jean Dalgarno, on Saturday, September 3, 2016 surrounded by the love of her family.
Myrna Jean was born in Killarney, Manitoba on December 29, 1947. Right from the beginning she was a tiny person with overwhelming strength. She weighed 1.5 pounds at birth and at six months of age she only weighed 4 pounds. Myrna’s mom and dad (Ruby and Les Armstrong) already having three children to care for, put her in the care of her Nanny and Poppy. With their loving care they nursed her to health. There are memories of her in a mandarin orange box filled with cotton batten, set 3 feet above the hot plate to keep her warm. At night she slept in the top dresser drawer.
Myrna moved to Bowness, Alberta in 1954 where she attended High School and went on to graduate from Hollingshead Business College with a diploma in IBM Data Programming. She began her career with Royalite Oil and worked until the birth of her first daughter, Marcia Rae.
Myrna and Sid were married in 1968, and sadly they lost their first child, Trevor Dean in 1971. They welcomed Marcia Rae in 1973 and later Paula Dawn in1976.
The family moved from Bowness to Springbank in 1977, where Myrna and Sid started their own business that still continues today. They built a new home in Springbank in 1986 which became a gathering place for Marcia and Paula’s friends, as Myrna became a second mom to many.
Myrna dearly loved and lived for her grandchildren and they love her. If she wasn’t cooking or baking with them, having sleepovers or shopping, she was singing, dancing or having tea parties. Myrna couldn’t wait when Izabella and Maxwell come to visit and dropped everything when they did. Myrna passed away 3 days after her 48th wedding anniversary on September 3rd, 2016.
Myrna is survived by her loving husband, Sid; her daughters Marcia Mahoney (Bernie) and their 2 children Maxwell and Izabella and Paula Dalgarno (Mike Newcombe) and their children Brooklyn and Sawyer; and her loving mother-in-law Daisy Dalgarno. She is also survived by her four sister’s and two brother’s and their spouses and many extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Myrna’s Life will be held at Eden Brook Funeral Home (17 Avenue S.W. & Lower Springbank Road) on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00pm.

Directions to Eden Brook
Hwy 1 (16th Avenue)
.
