<div itemprop="description">McManus, Mona Doreen<br>Nov.3, 1940 – April 7, 2017<br><br>Mona Doreen McManus, wife of Jack McManus, died peacefully on Friday April 7, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mona was born in Castor, Alberta to Luella and Jim Drever on November 3, 1940. Besides her husband Jack, Mona is survived by her daughter Lisa Devine (Mike), and her son Jeff McManus (Lauren), grandchildren Grier and Tully McManus, and Francesca and Jack Devine, and siblings Marilyn Ross (Allan), and Kent Drever (Trudy). She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Luella Drever and her brother Dale Drever (Darlene). <br>Mona was a lady with many talents, she graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree in Home Economics in 1963 and taught full and part-time with the Calgary Board of Education until her retirement from Louise Dean School in June 1998. <br>She was an avid quilter and her works of art are appreciated by many recipients. Mona had an amazing flare for home and garden décor and a passion for clothes and scarves that went far beyond the norm. She was a fabulous cook which she thoroughly enjoyed with her monthly gourmet girls club. Golfing at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club and in the winter months in Palm Springs was a sport Mona loved to play. Mona was a very active participant in the community where she cherished her friendships with her neighbours at “Lott Creek Hollow”. The Timber Ridge group of friends in Windermere also provided many fond memories for Mona especially the Apres ski gatherings at Panarama. A Celebration of Mona’s life will be held on April 22, 2017 at 2pm at Eden Brook Funeral Home and Reception Centre. The family would like to thank Dr. Desiree Hao and all the staff in Unit 47 Palliative Care Unit at the Tom Baker Cancer Clinic, the staff in Unit 73 at the Rockyview Hospital and the nurses and caregivers from the Cochrane Home Care Centre for all the excellent care given to Mona over the past year.<br><br>Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.edenbrookcemetery.ca.
