<div itemprop="description">Chornoboy, Maurice (Miroslaw) <br />Aug 14, 1925 &ndash; December 20, 2015 <br /> <br />Maurice Chornoboy, beloved husband of Dagney, passed away peacefully at age 90. Besides his dear wife, he is survived by his son Gregory (Kim), daughter Rinde Powell (John), five granddaughters Stephanie, Joanne, Hayley, Amy and Devynn, brother Harry (Jean) of Winnipeg, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Helen and brother John. <br />Maurice was born in Fork River, MB and received a B Sc. from the University of Manitoba. While employed as the Municipal Administrator of Lawrence, Manitoba he met and married Dagney Kristiansen, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years. <br />In 1956, Maurice began a 27 year career with Quality Construction (Qualico Developments). He moved to Calgary in 1957 as Branch Manager and was appointed Vice President in 1980. In 1984, Maurice joined Carma Developments Ltd. as President and COO until his formal retirement in 1989. <br />In retirement right up to his passing, Maurice continued to be involved in the land development and housing industry as a partner and advisor with the Lamont Group of companies. <br />Maurice was well known and respected in land development industry, providing his expertise as a founding member of the Urban Development Institute (UDI) and Alberta New Home Warranty Program, as well as serving as a director with the Canadian Home Builders Association, HUDAC and Carma. <br />A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church at 3610 Sarcee Road SW January 7, 2016 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice. <br /></div>
