<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Kelvin peacefully at Carewest Sarcee Hospice at the age of 47.<br><br>Kelvin leaves behind his loving spouse, Melanie; son, Jarod; parents, Clare and Dorothy Colquhoun; brothers, Cory (Karen) and Darren (Maurie) plus numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws and countless friends. <br><br>He grew up in Brandon Manitoba graduating with honours from Brandon University majoring in Physics and Mathematics. Kelvin married the love of his life Melanie in 1989 and Jarod came into the picture in 1997. A Professional Geophysicist over his entire career, Kelvin started with Shell Canada in 1990. In 1999 Kelvin joined Apache Canada and had a very successful career contributing to several major discoveries during his tenure. Kelvin mentored several colleagues over the years and was passionate about his profession. A lifelong learner, Kelvin devoured technical journals and took courses to stay on top of the latest developments in his field of study. <br>Outside of work Kelvin loved to ski, golf, trap shoot, mountain bike, hike and play guitar. Later in life Kelvin obtained his pilot's license and amassed hundreds of hours flying out of Springbank Airport. Kelvin and Melanie loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit New York, Hawaii, Mexico, Belize and Europe. <br><br>Kelvin had wonderful care from Dr. Syrnyk, Dr. Eksteen, and Dr. Tam at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. In addition, the Palliative team led by Dr. Falk and the staff at the Carewest Sarcee Hospice provided comfort to Kelvin and his family during his final days. <br><br>A Celebration of Kelvin's Life will be held at Eden Brook Funeral Home on Monday July 11, 2016 (corner of 17th Avenue SW and Lower Springbank Road) at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kelvin can be directed to the Kelvin Colquhoun Physics Scholarship at Brandon University.
