McDONALD, Ian Alexander
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our precious Ian on February 10, 2013. He will be profoundly missed by his loving parents Deborah & Gordon, his adoring big sister Bronwyn, and his cherished girlfriend Hillary. He will also be deeply missed by his dear grandmothers Jeanne MacDonald & Barbara McDonald, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and by all who knew him. Ian was predeceased by his late grandfathers Roy MacDonald and Ian McDonald.
Ian came into the world as a beautiful, easy baby; grew into a happy, joyful child; and developed into a caring, sensitive, thoughtful and personable young man. He was a joyful addition to Deb and Gord's family. He was a faithful friend to Bronwyn - always easy-going, and the perfect little brother to hang in her gang. Ian's younger years were fun-filled with sporting activities, and he was a great all-round athlete.
The family enjoyed many summers on the beaches in Invermere, and Gord, an involved dad, introduced the kids to sledding, skating, swimming, snowboarding, and wake-boarding behind the family boat. Ian loved basketball and having his dad coach him. Gord and Ian also shared a love of dirt-biking together.
Deb, his devoted mother, understood and nurtured Ian's sensitive side, and they shared a very special bond. Ian's common greeting to his mother was, "Hi Mama". Deb was ever-present, inspiring Ian with her words of wisdom and inspiration in every facet of his life.
Ian graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School, and over the last two years, has been exploring his love of the arts, fashion and culture. After travelling through Europe last summer, Ian embarked on a creative business venture birthing his own clothing and accessory brand under the name IA Co. - Ian Alexander Clothing Company – a brand carrying a message important to him. The business and website were set to launch this week. It is the mission of his family and friends to carry on his dream by launching the IA Co. brand in the near future.
