Spiegelmann, Helen Marie
1921 – 2015

On the 10th day of July, 2015, God called Helen Marie Spiegelmann (nee O’Connell) home after over 93 years of leading a faith-centered life. She is now reunited with her husband, Victor who passed away 14 years ago, her parents, siblings and in-laws, best friend, Carmina Barlow and two grandchildren, Nicole and Kevin. Left to mourn her loss are her children, Stephen and Brian (Kathy) and grandchildren, Elissa, Rachelle and Daniel. She will also be dearly missed by the Fisher and McDonald families by whom she was lovingly known as 'Grandma Helen’. Born in Penetanguishene, Ontario on November 5, 1921, Helen's time on earth was punctuated by a love for plants and gardening, embroidery, her beloved dogs and later computer prowess. She instilled strong Christian and family values in her children and extended family and offered a guiding hand when required. Always impeccably dressed and gracious, Helen was never pretentious or boastful, preferring her successes be achieved through kindness, hard work and perseverance. To honour Helen, a Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Dr NW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Helen’s name directly to the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC), 303 Forge Rd SE, Calgary, AB T2H 0S9 or to the Alberta SPCA, 4455 110 Ave SE, Calgary, AB. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.edenbrookcemetery.ca. Arrangements entrusted to EDEN BROOK FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE.
