Harvey passed into the arms of his Savior surrounded with love and family in Calgary AB on November 24, 2016 at the age of 82 years. Dad’s faith in the Lord was strong and we know he was greeted at the gates of Heaven with much excitement and a bowl of perogies from his mother.

Dad will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his “bride” Donna. Theirs was a love affair of over 60 years and was an amazing example to his children and grandchildren of what true companionship, friendship and love in a marriage should be. Dad’s legacy lives on in the memories of his children Michelle (Ralph) LoGullo, Ken (Arlene) Propp and Dale (Jessica) Propp and in his nine grandchildren, Amelia, Sofia and Francesca LoGullo, Larissa Fawn and Amber Propp and Forrest, Noah, Lilah, Veronica and Arnold Propp.

Dad is also survived by his two brothers, Vince (Bev) Propp of Kelowna and Dennis (Mary) Propp of Toronto, Donna’s sister Lavonne (Ken) Basaraba of Calgary, her brothers John (Joyce) Welch of Govan, SK, and Lawrence Welch of Gibsons, BC, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Hannah (nee Ewald) Propp, his nephews Steven, Michael and Darryl Propp and his sister-in-law Margaret.

Dad was born on June 4, 1934 in Rhein, SK. He graduated high school in 1953 from Camrose Lutheran College. In 1957 he graduated from Saskatoon City Hospital School of Medical Radiological Technology. This is where he met a beautiful red headed nurse named Donna as he transported a patient down the hall for an appointment. As he so often explained to us, he stopped short at the presence of this radiant woman whom he fell in love with at first sight. Although Donna was a little more cautious of the instant pairing, their love affair became story telling at many of our family dinners. Dad loved his “bride” with the intensity of a burning fire and he fought hard to remain with her for as long as he could.

Harvey and Donna married in 1957 and they moved to Ogden, Utah where dad worked as an X-ray technician. They then relocated to Rosetown where they resided until 1961. They moved to Edmonton where dad took over as Technical Director of the Department of Radiology at Edmonton General Hospital. In 1963 they welcomed their first child, Michelle and then Dale in 1965. Dad joined Kodak Canada in 1966. The year 1968 marked the arrival of Ken, the final addition to the family. 1970 saw a move to Toronto where our family resided for the next 11 years until a final move to Calgary. Dad worked until his retirement (after a very brief stint in Kelowna).

Dad spent his retirement years doing what he enjoyed most and is well remembered for—painting, drawing, cooking, wreath and jam making, working on his yard and many of your yards as well. He was passionate about art and music. He camped and watched hockey games only to make Donna happy; however they did share a passion for the sport of curling.

Dad was a devoted Grandpa and absolutely adored his grandchildren. He would often volunteer as a “parent” for school trips and many of the school kids fought to be with his group as he would always buy ice cream. The kids recall a mischievous side of Grandpa who would love to spin “donuts” in his car to the screams of their delight. Shaving cream kisses and candy treats were always doled out in excess. His love of music and theatre resonate in the lives of his babies with many of them expressing passion for creating, cooking and playing instruments.

The family would like to thank the caregivers from Carewest Southwood and Carewest Royal Park for their dedication in providing care and helping dad maintain as much dignity as possible in his final days. Further thanks go out to all the amazing friends and family who provided companionship and support to both dad and mom as we progressed through this difficult time.

A Funeral Service is scheduled for Friday December 2 at 2:00 pm at Eden Brook Funeral Home 24233 Township Road 242, Calgary. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Harvey’s life.

In lieu of flowers and in the fight to research and end the horrible disease that took our Dad, please send donations to Parkinson Alberta at 102, 5636 Burbank Crescent SE, Calgary, AB T2H 1Z6.
