It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Adela Bagocki (Dermanovic) after 91 full and wonderful years.
Adela was born on February 18, 1925 in Posavski Podgajci Croatia, in her beloved Slavonija. A proud Croatian all her life, Adela enjoyed a happy childhood in Rajevo Selo with her family.
With bravery and faith, Adela immigrated to Canada in 1953, eventually bringing over her parents and brother to start a new life of promise. It was shortly thereafter that she met her adored Andrija and they were married, forming a beautiful bond that would last 47 years. Together they worked hard to give their children everything they could and their children will be forever grateful.
Adela was blessed with three children, whom she cherished above all things, Rose Bilic (Franjo), Joe Bagocki and Anne Brinovac (Mirko) and her very special granddaughter who was her pride and joy, Kristina Bilic (fiancé Dan Peterson). Adela will be lovingly remembered by her brother Viktor Dermanovic (Vesna) and cousin Julka Mustapic (Dinko), as well as her cherished nieces, nephews and Godchildren, all whom held a very special place in her heart.
A pillar to the Croatian Catholic community in Calgary, Adela spent much of her Canadian life supporting her beloved church Our Lady of Marija Bistrica and was an active member in its various societies. Many will remember her wonderful baking, sarma and rezance. She will be greatly missed by her many family and friends both near and far.
Adela was predeceased by her beloved husband Andrija, parents Ivan and Ana Dermanovic, sister Slavica and baby brother Antun.
Adela was such a special lady that only God could have created.
Prayers will be held at Eden Brook Funeral Home (corner of Lower Springbank Road and 17th Avenue SW) on Tuesday September 20th at 8:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Marija Bistrica (Croatian Catholic Parish 14675 Deer Ridge Drive SE) on Thursday September 22nd at 10:00am with Vlc. Domin Vladic Presiding. Graveside service to follow at Eden Brook cemetery.
